How are your travels?

By Washington Post Editors

Headed somewhere for the holidays? According to the American Automobile Association's recent survey 2.2 million of us are traveling more than 50 miles from home.

Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney reports that he took a midday flight from Reagan National to Tampa on Tuesday. The flight left on schedule and arrived early. The plane was full with a lot of carry-on luggage and presents (someone's having a merry Christmas!).

McCartney says the security lines moved smoothy and good weather made the flight a breeze.

Post a comment about your travel plans and experiences below. And check with the Dr. Gridlock blog Thursday as the transportation team provides reports on the holiday getaway. If you're going through airport security, you can also tweet what you see and experience using #TSAtime.

My guess is that the body scanners will be turned off again just as they were for Thanksgiving.

I dropped off Ms1995hoo at Reagan Airport this morning--Terminal A, i.e., the old terminal--and she called from the gate to say the security queue was very short (two people on line ahead of her) and that they do not have the Nude-o-Scopes in that terminal. The passenger drop-off area out front wasn't particularly busy at that time (8:30 AM), either, but then Terminal A gets less traffic than the new one anyway. But the new one wasn't too busy when I drove past there on my way out, either.

About the biggest traffic nuisance I've experienced today was on the Beltway coming back from Reagan when there was an armada of dump trucks ahead of me kicking up rocks and gunk.
