9:05 A.M. UPDATE:

An accident on 9th Street and Constitution Avenue is blocking up that intersection, so try to use alternate streets if you can.

8:55 A.M. UPDATE:

In Maryland: The I-270 South lanes have reopened. Expect some residual delays in the area.

In Virginia: The disabled vehicle on I-395 South has been moved. The backups on I-95 North at the Springfield Interchange have improved.

However, a disabled vehicle on the Inner Loop at Braddock Road is blocking the right lane. An accident in the sam area is blocking the right shoulder of the ramp from the Inner Loop to westbound Braddock Road. And the Inner Loop is backed up in this area, leading to I-66.

8:30 A.M. UPDATE:

In Maryland: Two lanes are still blocked on I-270 South in Gaithersburg. Meanwhile, the debris on the Outer Loop near River Road has been cleared.

In Virginia: A disabled vehicle on I-395 South at Edsall Road is blocking the left lane. And congestion remains heavy on I-66 East at the Beltway, the Inner Loop heading to I-66 and I-95 North approaching the Springfield Interchange.

8:10 A.M. UPDATE:

The accident on I-270 South before Quince Orchard Road/MD 124 in Gaithersburg is blocking two lanes, so expect big, big delays.

The disabled vehicle on the Outer Loop near University Boulevard has been cleared. the debris near River Road remains, so you can still expect delays in that area.

Also, an accident on I-270 South before Quince Orchard Road/MD 124 in Gaithersburg could cause big delays on this generally-crowded roadway.

7:35 A.M. UPDATE:

In Maryland: The disabled vehicle on the Outer Loop at Connecticut Avenue has been cleared. But there's now another disabled vehicle west of University Boulevard, as well as debris on the road before River Road, so expect some Outer Loop delays if you're around either area.

In Virginia: Delays continue on I-66 East at the Beltway, on the Inner Loop leading up to Gallows Road, on I-395 North at Duke Street and on I-95 North approaching the Springfield Interchange.

7:05 A.M. UPDATE:

In Maryland: The disabled vehicle on the Outer Loop at Connecticut Avenue is blocking the right merge lane. Expect backups in the vicinity.

In Virginia: I-66 East is very, very backed up approaching the Beltway now, and you can expect those backups to linger for a good long while.

I-95 North is slow in Woodbridge and also becoming congested approaching the Beltway. The Inner Loop is also pretty crowded around Gallows Road.

6:45 A.M. UPDATE:

The disabled vehicle has been cleared from the I-66 West ramp to I-495 South, while the accident on I-66 East is now on the shoulder in the same area. But there might be some residual delays so be mindful of that.

I-95 North is also pretty congested around Woodbridge, while I-395 North is seeing some backups around Duke and King streets.

In Maryland, there's a disabled vehicle on the Outer Loop at Connecticut Avenue, which might cause delays and trouble in that spot.

6:25 A.M. UPDATE:

There are problems on I-66 in both directions at the Beltway. A disabled vehicle is blocking the right side of the ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South. Meanwhile, an accident on I-66 East is blocking the right lane at the Beltway.

ORIGINAL POST:

Good morning, commuters. It'll be another cold one, but at least the Capital Weather Gang says the winds will ease up a bit later today. Check back here throughout the morning for all of the headaches and issues awaiting you on your commute.

-- A water main break on East-West Highway at 17th Avenue in Hyattsville could cause problems for westbound traffic.

-- Don't forget, the National Christmas Tree Lighting is tonight at 5 p.m., so plan your evening commute accordingly.
