Numerous area flights canceled

By Mark Berman

3:35 p.m. Update: Some flights destined for New York-area airports may experience delays of more than an hour due to weather.

Original post: The snowfall that lightly dusted the Washington region is hitting harder in other areas throughout the Northeast. This is leading to big issues for people heading to the airport today. We're already seeing a ream of flights canceled this morning, impacting flights heading to or coming from the Northeast and throughout the rest of the country.

Already this morning, here are some of the delays and cancellations at local area airports):

BWI: Flights arriving from Rochester and Boston are delayed, while flights from Boston, New York's LaGuardia, Newark, Cincinnati and Providence are canceled this morning. Flights heading to Cincinnati, Boston, Detroit, Newark and Louisville are canceled, and flights to Boston are delayed.

National: Flights arriving from New York's LaGuardia, Hartford, White Plains, Providence, Boston and Columbus are canceled. Flights heading to New York's LaGuardia, New York's JFK, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Memphis, Boston, St. Louis, Orlando, Detroit, Raleigh, Lexington and White Plains are also canceled.

Dulles: Flights arriving from New York's LaGuardia, New York's JFK, Newark, Providence, Binghamton, Hartford, White Plains, Dallas, Cincinnati and Dallas are all canceled this morning. Flights heading to Dallas, Houston, Cincinnati, New York's JFK, New York's LaGuardia, Boston and Charlotte also also nixed.

Snow is hitting other parts of the Northeast this morning and well into the afternoon: A winter weather advisory is in effect in New York City until 8 a.m., with 4 to 6 inches dropping there; a winter storm warning is in effect in Boston until 3 p.m., with 4 to 7 inches of heavy snow expected.

Remember, just because a flight is canceled to Boston (or wherever) doesn't mean your flight later today will be. Here are some resources to use if you're flying today:
