Outage on 14th St. Bridge postponed

By Washington Post Editors

2 p.m. Update: The outage has been postponed, according to DDOT. No word on when it will be rescheduled.

Original post: It will be lights out on the 14th Street Bridge Tuesday night due to a planned Pepco outage so that electrical work can be conducted under the bridge.

The District Department of Transportation says the outage is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. and will affect two traffic signals on the D.C. side, along with lights that illuminate the bridge and its overhead signs.

DDOT plans to deploy a portable generator to power the traffic signals at the intersection of 14th and C streets SW and portable stop signs at the intersection of Maine Avenue SW and East Basin Drive.

The power is expected to be restored by 6 a.m. Wednesday.
