Don't miss last Metro train
Metro has released a more detailed schedule of train operations during this weekend's disruption on the Orange and Blue lines. Also available now are the exact locations of the stops for the shuttle buses that will bridge the gaps in train service.
From 10 p.m. Friday through the rail system's midnight closing Sunday, the eastern side of the Orange Line between Stadium-Armory and New Carrollton will be shut for maintenance projects. During the same period, there will be no Blue Line service between Stadium-Armory and Benning Road.
Last through trains Friday
Late-night train riders who plan to travel through the work zones by shuttle bus will want to be careful about the train schedule, particularly on Friday night, when the work begins.
Orange Line: Before the service disruption begins Friday night, the last Orange Line train from Vienna going all the way to New Carrollton will depart Vienna at 8:59 p.m., Stadium-Armory at 9:42 p.m., Minnesota Avenue at 9:46 p.m., Deanwood at 9:47 p.m., Cheverly at 9:50 p.m. and Landover at 9:53 p.m., and arrive at New Carrollton at 9:56 p.m.
The last Orange Line train from New Carrollton going through to Vienna will depart New Carrollton at 9:33 p.m., Landover at 9:36 p.m., Cheverly at 9:39 p.m., Deanwood at 9:42 p.m., Minnesota Avenue at 9:43 p.m. and Stadium-Armory at 9:47 p.m., and arrive at the Vienna at 10:30 p.m.
Blue Line: Before the shutdown Friday night, the last Blue Line train from Franconia-Springfield going through to Largo Town Center will depart Franconia-Springfield at 8:59 p.m., Stadium-Armory at 9:48 p.m., Benning Road at 9:51 p.m., Capitol Heights at 9:55 p.m., Addison Road at 9:57 p.m. and Morgan Boulevard at 10 p.m., and arrive at the Largo Town Center at 10:01 p.m.
The last Blue Line train from Largo Town Center going through to Franconia-Springfield will depart Largo Town Center at 9:42 p.m., Morgan Boulevard at 9:45 p.m., Addison Road-Seat Pleasant at 9:48 p.m., Capitol Heights at 9:50 p.m., Benning Road at 9:54 p.m. and Stadium-Armory at 9:57 p.m., and arrive at the Franconia-Springfield at 10:46 p.m.
Final connecting trains
Once the service disruption starts at 10 p.m. Friday, the next schedule issue for train riders will be making sure they arrive in time to catch the final shuttle buses operating early Saturday.
Blue Line: For riders heading toward Franconia-Springfield to make their final connections at Stadium-Armory, the last Blue Line trains will depart Largo Town Center about 2:04 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Then, on Sunday night, when the train system closes at midnight, the last such departure will be about 11:04 p.m.
The last trains to Franconia-Springfield will leave Stadium-Armory at approximately 2:49 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday night, the departure time will be 11:49 p.m.
Heading toward Largo Town Center from Benning Road, the last Blue Line trains will depart about 3:50 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and about 12:50 a.m. Monday.
Orange Line: The last trains to Vienna will leave Stadium-Armory at 2:49 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and at 11:49 p.m. Sunday.
Shuttle bus locations
Here are the locations for the shuttle buses.
Blue Line Shuttle: The bus will operate between Stadium-Armory (bus bay C) and Benning Road (corner of Benning Road and Central Avenue). Riders using this shuttle should add 15 to 20 minutes to their trips.
Orange Line Express Shuttle: This bus will operate between Stadium-Armory (bus bay C) and New Carrollton (bus bays D, E and F) with no stops in between. Riders should add 30 minutes to their trips.
Orange Line Local Shuttle: This local shuttle bus will operate between Stadium-Armory (bus bay C) and New Carrollton, stopping at Minnesota Avenue (bus bay G), Deanwood (bus bay A), Cheverly (bus bay C), Landover (bus bay D) and New Carrollton (bus bays D, E and F). Riders should add 40 minutes to their trips.
