It's pothole season in Washington

The annual arrival of pothole season in Washington is just as predictable as congestion around the Beltway. As temperatures fluctuate drivers are beginning to see plenty of the ruts and chasms on the region's roads.

According to AAA Mid-Atlantic, March is the busiest month for pothole repairs, and drivers may see more potholes this year due to cuts in road maintenance budgets.

"The declining conditions of area roads are already costing area drivers $462 each year. On top of that, hitting a pothole can cost you an additional $355 in serious damage to your car," said AAA Mid-Atlantic spokesman John B. Townsend II. "Damage from poor road conditions, including potholes, can add up to $2,000 or more in repair costs over the life of a car."
