Maryland wants high-speed rail funds
If other states don't want federal funding to build the Obama administration's proposed national network of high-speed rail lines, Maryland would be happy to have the money they spurn.

Feds plan to spend $53 billion on rail
PHILADELPHIA -- The Obama administration plans to spend $53 billion on high-speed and intercity rail over the next six years. Vice President Biden and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood made the announcement Tuesday morning during an appearance at Philadelphia's 30th Street Station. The money will be used to build new high-speed rail networks and to make existing rail networks faster.

Amtrak is proposing a $13.5 billion project that will include building two commuter rail tunnels from New Jersey to New York by 2020, replacing a $9.7 billion project that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) killed.
