Union Station could add stairs
A Metro study of ways to relieve congestion at Union Station has been completed, with two possible solutions under consideration. The more extensive one would take a simple step that has increasingly been clamored for by riders: Adding stairs where currently there are very short and often broken-down escalators.

Shady Grove platform restored
The Metrorail platform at Shady Grove is in full use again, following completion of the month-long first phase of a repair project that had restricted use of the platform to a single side, the transit authority announced.

Red line delays easing
Be aware if you're headed in late today and traveling on the western leg of the Red line: Trains are single-tracking between Friendship Heights and Medical Center due to scheduled track maintenance.

Metro chugging along OK
Metro is reporting delays in both directions on the Red line and is single-tracking on the Blue/Orange lines after D.C. firefighters were called to put out two fires inside tunnels at separate Metro stations.
