Brett Favre will start for Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night

That didn't take long.

Brett Favre will be the Minnesota Vikings' starting quarterback in their preseason game Sunday night against the 49ers in San Francisco.

He will play a series or two in the preseason game, which no doubt is a pure coincidence, will be nationally televised.

Vikings Coach Brad Childress hoped the first series would go 10 plays. "That's what he needs right now and all he's ready for right now."

Favre rejoined the team Wednesday.

"I think he's doing a good job of rounding into," form, Childress said. "He has been throwing the football, there is no question about that. Just conditioning his legs. ... He's versed in our system and our calls."
