Colt Brennan signs with Oakland Raiders

Colt Brennan, cut by the Redskins on Aug. 2, signed a one-year contract with the Oakland Raiders on Saturday, completing the team's trifecta of players who were on the Redskins' squad last year.

Brennan, he of the Cult of Colt*, will once again back up quarterback Jason Campbell and will see Rock Cartwright's familiar face in the backfield. The signing of Brennan -- I'll-always-remember-where-I-was-when-I-heard-the-news, um, news in Honolulu -- means, according to Jerry McDonald's "Inside the Raiders" blog that the team felt it needed help at QB ahead of Thursday's game against the Dallas Cowboys because of injuries to Bruce Gradkowski (groin) and Charlie Frye (sore wrist). The Raiders also have Kyle Boller on the roster.

*The Colt Kool-Aid may have been losing its flavor in DC. Sixty-two percent of over 5,200 voters last week were in favor of the Redskins' move to cut him.

I guess fans of last year's Redskins QBs have little choice but to move to Oakland. Will Danny arrange for season ticket transfers with Al?

With any luck, Colt will get a chance to raid the Cowboys this Thursday with his former mates Jason, Rock and Samson!

I doubt if he can make the team, but maybe he'll show enough to get on the practice squad or latch on somewhere else. 5 years fron now, all of those dissing the man may be eating crow.

I still believe in Colt Brennan. I really hope he gets a chance to perform in Oakland. And I still think the Redskins will rue the day they let him go.

I'm glad a team is giving Colt a shot.. and being he is from CA nice it's on the west coast to. He won't have much time to get ready but he didn't have much time when he impressed us in his first preseason game 2 years ago either.. It would be wild if he someday beats out Campbell out there...
