Jaguars wide receiver Kassim Osgood, companion assaulted by man with gun
Kassim Osgood, a wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, escaped serious injury late Monday night when he jumped out a second story window to escape a gun-wielding man who had attacked him and a woman he was visiting in Jacksonville, Fla.
Julian Armond Bartletto, 20, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, false imprisonment, armed robbery, burglary and violation of an injunction, police said. He allegedly entered the home of Mackenzie Rae Putnal, 19, just before 11:15 p.m. with his face covered with a plastic bag and pointed a gun at Putnal and Osgood. He said, "I can't believe you're with that guy" and grabbed Putnal by her hair, hitting her with his gun and fists; he struck Osgood, 30, in the head with the gun, according to the arrest report.
More, from the Florida Times-Union:
The gunman took the woman's cellphone and tackled her when she tried to flee, holding the gun to her head as well as Osgood's and also hitting her dog several times. When he ordered the couple to sit on the floor, Putnal escaped down a hall and leaped over the balcony to the floor below, the report said.
The gunman ran after her, so Osgood jammed a chair under the game room door handle and jumped out a window to the lawn below, running to a neighbor's house to call police. Meanwhile, Bartletto and Putnal confronted each other downstairs with guns. The woman targeted him with her laser sight before both shot at each other and missed.
The gunman fled as Putnal called police but was found at his home and arrested, police said.
