Jets complaints draw NFL's attention

Updated at 3:11 p.m.

Jets owner Woody Johnson said the team will interview players regarding Ines Sainz' allegations Tuesday, according to Rich Cimini of ESPNNY.com.

Filed at 12:45 p.m.

The Jets haven't played a regular-season game yet and they already lead the NFL in complaints.

The league is investigating a complaint filed by the Association of Women in Sports Media on behalf of TV Azteca reporter Ines Sainz. [Photos of her are all over the interwebs. You're going to Google her. Or read Deadspin's take. Or Tara Sullivan's. Or see the photo below, which is how Sainz said she was dressed.] She alleges that the Jets harassed her on the field and in the locker room when she visited their practice facility to do a story on quarterback Mark Sanchez.

ines.jpg"When we first heard of it, we immediately started the process of looking into it," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Sunday. "It's troubling. We've had contact with the team multiple times and are moving very aggressively to establish the facts."

Jets owner Woody Johnson said he had spoken with Sainz and, in a statement released by the team, Johnson stressed to her that "he expects all members of the Jets organization to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. ... We will continue to work with the league to gather facts and take any appropriate steps necessary to maintain a respectful environment for the media."

The NFL is also resolving a complaint by an unidentified team claiming that Sanchez' eight-player "Jets West Camp" violated offseason training rules because coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer attended some sessions.

A league spokesman told ESPN's Chris Mortensen, who reported the story, that the matter is still under review. The Jets and the league had no official comment.

Honestly what do you expect dressing like a prostitute around men who aren't used to being rejected by women.

Oh my god, a hot chick was whistled at by a bunch of jocks in a lockeroom, stop the presses!

This woman has made a career off of men looking at her body, now we are supposed to believe she is outraged that some men were acting like frat guys around her? Give me a break.

Typical feminist feigned outrage.

The Jet's owner "Woody Johnson" said he expected everyone to act in a professional manner?

His name is WOODY JOHNSON!

LOL

It has been a while since the "Step up and talk to Mr. Microphone" incident.

The picture attached in the article is her conservative look. She has dressed much more provocatively in other pictures I've seen. Not saying that she is asking to be harrassed but if I wanted to be harrassed that is how I would dress.

Stupid broad. If you're going to showcase your cupcakes, if you're going to skintight the milkcalf, if you're going to display the camel toes, this is what you get. I love it when broads in offices show a lot of cleavage and then claim harrassment when the WRONG guy looks. Hilarious. Grow up, girls, or go cover soccer and work in gay envirnments. I've heard of stupidity in the Women's Whining movement but this one really sets it back.

Typical male posts. Still rutting in animal happiness, eh children?

Professional athletes in a professional setting.
Repeat that: Professional athletes in a professional setting.

And these professionals act like ... pigs.

That's all there is to it. I would love for JamesChristian, ouvan59, Barno1 and eternale5150 to even THINK about cat-calling any female at their job like these "professionals" did. They would be summarily dismissed.

Do not treat men like children, excusing their inappropriateness. Do not treat women like sex objects. Your fantasies are not reality.

How the reporter dressed is NOT the issue. How the team treated her, in an unprofessional manner, IS the issue....But I guess you have to have a frontal lobe to know that much....

She is "hottttt" and most of the guy's in the league have no "game" when it comes to talking to an "attractive" young lady and why is that? because most of them have spent their entire young lives honing their craft(football) so when someone is smart and pretty and doesn't give them the time of day then they resort to high school high jinks like saying vulgar and insensitive things, no surprise just stupid.

Hey Greent you must be the fattest ugliest woman and jealous. Cmon, her clothes are skin tight, her butt is perfect. Sanchez probaly wouldn't give her his number so she is whining. Go eat hot dog with the rest of your "GIRL FRIENDS"

Ummm, Ummm, Uummm. That picture could easily be from a playboy photo shoot. What straight man could ignore that butt? Seriously if I was her boss I would tell her that is inappropriate dressing for this job. If she dressed that way to work at corporate headquarters it would still be inappropriate and her fellow female workers would talk about her behind her back calling her unprintable names.

Posted by: RickJohnson621 | September 13, 2010 5:44 PM | Report abuse

For the record, I am female and on the wrong side of 45. I had to work my butt off in intense chauvinistic environments where those around me (I worked for an ultra-conservative defense contractor at the time) referred to me as 'darling', 'honey', and 'little girl'.
The fact remains that regardless of who you are or what you do for a living, how you dress tells the world how to treat you. A crooked tie and uncombed hair takes precedence over the three-piece suit with it. You're a bit of a slacker. When the shirt is wrinkled and the hem coming out of the pants you've gone past slacker and entered the 'lazy' arena. And I'm sorry, you wear skin-tight jeans, a tight shirt and HIGH HEELS on a football field, totally inappropriate for the environment, you're telling the world to look at you, admire you, and drool. You're not asking anyone to take you seriously. Inappropriate comments, if made, were out of line and should be handled. On the other hand, using your body to attract attention to possibly get a 'scoop' is out of line as well. Each and every one of us makes a decision before we go to work in the morning of what we'll wear and for most people, we follow the 'dress code' of our business. Those who don't get treated differently.

Lets see...she goes into a mens locker room then complains about being uncomfortable. She is definately a rookie. Veteran female reporters know its customary to have players wangs flipped and flopped in their faces all the time. In fact some women leave the locker room with red marks on their faces. They all realize it goes with the territory and you never know who's wang you will get smacked with if you get to close.

Re: chopin224

What do you live under a rock? Watch a movie or something, everyone knows how a prostitute dresses.

Dave Chappelle would put it like this: why are you dressed like a prostitute but don't want to act like one when a guy looks at you? I don't go dressed like a police officer and then when someone asks for my assistance with a crime say "sorry, I'm not a real cop, just dressed like one."

You have to be HOMO not to look!! and I am not talking about the sapien kind..lol Get real!! All that she did was derail her own career because she will never be able to report and sporting events now. All of the jocks will steer away from her when they see her coming. Good luck genius!!

Although I don't agree she deserves to be harrassed (no woman does), if she wants to be treated professionally and with respect, she must command respect. As a media professional, wearing skin-tight jeans and heels, showing a fair amount of cleavage to cover an athletic event does not say "respect me as a professional." I'm 40 with a relatively shapely body. When I wear skin-tight jeans and heels, I expect to and do get noticed. I can't then be upset if the comments are not G-rated.

Since when women dressing in a pair of jeans and a top is dressing like trash? I won't say typical man, because gentlemen don't insult women like this, regardless of what they look like or how they dress. Moron.

So, she goes around being being all flirty with the guys and dressing provocatively, but when they try to flirt with her, it's a problem. That's like leaving a fabergé egg on the counter around a rowdy child, and then getting mad when the kid breaks it. She gets to go in a locker room, getting a free peek at all the guys, but one of those guys says she's a "bonita senorita," and that's wrong. Men aren't allowed in women's locker rooms, but women are allowed in men's locker rooms. That's a double standard, something many women claim to be against.

Posted by: WhosThatGuy18 | September 14, 2010 7:43 PM | Report abuse

Why is she dressed like that? I have seen many female reporters dress professionally at games and for some reason haven't heard anything from them. If you want to be treated professionally, then dress the part; want to be treated like a peice of meat, then do the same.

HOWEVER,the way she is dressed does not exuse these players poor regard for women.

She's from Mexico; they dress different down there for the same job. Americans are puritanical and extremely repressed. Don't you get how weak these silly excuses sound? You can't figure out concepts of respect and professionalism and what constitutes the boundaries of your job? Of course not, so we hear blustery excuses why a pro-athlete can't keep it together around a woman - because he's naked and she's hot. What, they never get hot women for themselves? Maybe not! You'd think they'd have a tough time - but I doubt it. More likely they're spoiled brats and americans have a largely immature segment running around trying to give other people the responsibility they're supposed to be carrying. Stooooopid.

Because I state that adolescent juvenile behavior should not be tolerated in professional adults in a work setting, you attack me?

Because I state that is any of the original posters would try to do what these professionals did in their workplace they would be fired, you attack?

So, when the lines were forming, you skipped the brains and maturity line didn't you? Headed right on over to "durp (drool) purty girl, me likey" multiple times?

Please, go play in the sandbox with the rest of the children.
