Cleveland Browns linebacker Marcus Benard hospitalized after collapse
Benard, Browns spokesman Neal Gulkis said, is stable, alert and undergoing more tests.
At the time of his collapse, Benard, 25, was seated and talking on a cell phone. His teammates initially thought he was joking, then trainers rushed to his aid, according to reports. He was conscious and taken by ambulance to a hospital around 12:30.
The Browns play the Jets on Sunday in Cleveland. Benard leads the Browns with 4 1/2 sacks.
