Eric Johnson, Jessica Simpson engagement generates sentiment. And snark.

By Cindy Boren

The news that Jessica Simpson is engaged to former NFL player Eric Johnson is being greeted with just the kind of pure-hearted good wishes you'd expect throughout the blogosphere:

The photo from said tweet is at right. Oof.

At least Johnson, a Yalie who lasted five years as a tight end in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints, doesn't play football anymore.

Which means that Simpson, who was nicknamed Yoko Romo when she dated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, won't have to explain how she's not a jinx.
