Donald Trump: University of Miami should tell Mike Leach 'you're hired'

By Cindy Boren

Not that the University of Miami asked for his help in the search for a football coach, but Donald Trump has offered it anyway.

His guy is Mike Leach.

Trump, billionaire host of "The Apprecentice," told Miami president Donna Shalala as much this week in a note scrawled on a copy of The Palm Beach Post's Sports section, right over a story announcing the firing of Randy Shannon. Leach was Trump's guy in 2006, when the university hired Shannon.

"You made a big mistake when you did not take my advice and hire Mike Leach of Texas Tech ... and you can now get him for the right price," Trump wrote in a note that was authenticated by university officials.
