Shaquille O'Neal has dignified reaction to news of $35,000 fine

By Cindy Boren

Shaquille O'Neal took the news that he'd been fined $35,000 by the NBA for remarks critical of officiating in a Nancy Kerrigan-x-50 manner.

Oh, if only Brett Favre had reacted the same way.

"In 20 years of playing in the NBA," he said, "I've paid over $90 million in federal tax, $40 million in FICA tax, and $1 million in David Stern tax."
