Tashard Choice apologizes for asking for Michael Vick's autograph

By Cindy Boren

Moments after his team, the Dallas Cowboys, had lost to the Philadelphia Eagles on "Sunday Night Football," Cowboys running back Tashard Choice walked over to Eagles quarterback Michael Vick and ... asked for his autograph.

It's not something that athletes ask of each other publicly and Choice was surprised by the negative reaction of fans to the moment, caught by NBC's cameras. Choice explained on Twitter that the autograph was for his 3-year-old nephew. "Has nothing to do with how I play on da feel. Y'all are a trip foreal," he tweeted. "...We all exchange autographs. That's so stupid for people to get mad about."

If its anybody that cares about winning and the d cowboys its me. I apologize to the people it was just an innocent jesture for my nephew.less than a minute ago via TweetCaster

Vick, who seemed amused about the matter, admitted that it was "probably the first time it's ever happened" to him.

God. .. These guys lack of intelligence never fails to shock me. A bunch of thugs who are handed four year degrees but somehow missed out on class, values and the most rudimentary of grammatical skills. Imagine, this moron worshiping a thug like Vick.

I remember OJ's suicide note. It looked like a third grader wrote it and he was a graduate of USC.

"Y'all are a trip foreal" ...

Perfect example of where we are at as a nation in terms of schooling.

"Sportsmanship"? Dallas Cowboys front runners? Not likely in a million years.

As Joe Gibbs used to tell us in the days when the Redskins vs Cowboys in Dallas was "like going to war", no quarter asked or given.

But those were indeed the good old days when an owner might report to the locals that he "allowed an unlimited budget and his coach exceeded it" while the owner kept the hell out of the way.

And the Redskins (we) had a winning record and even won the war more often than not. But then those were the good days.

First, no one is saying "this moron" is worshiping a thug.
Second, and while I don't disagree that many athletes speak or write as if they had little formal education, this was a "Twitter" posting, where you say what you want in no more than 140 characters. This is, unfortunately, the Twitter/chat room generation.

He got the autograph for his nephew. I can give him a pass for that.

Thugs worshiping other thugs....

I think the real story is the Dallas Cowboys still have fans. Give the guy a break. If it was for his nephew as he said, I think he is a great uncle!

Maybe he just recognizes greatness when he sees it.

Gotta love these fans. The type of sportsmanship displayed by Choice is what we try to teach our kids. We tell them "Remember it's just a game", and to "leave it on the field". Unfortunately the blood lust in fans like the ones here is why players are using their helmets as weaponsn and intentionally injuring each other. Good grief, he just asked for an autograph!!

Well I think it's sweet he was trying to get an autograph for his nephew.

I couldn't care less about the autograph - it's the lazy, made-up English, and the inability to spell and write that gets under my skin. If you don't know how to spell something, don't just make up some slang spelling -learn how to spell it and how to write it. Good God man - I can't believe these guys are making millions.

To look at this society-- is disheartening and remorsefully sad. The so called crest of this society inabruptly dictates to media an and society's sheep on how to think and who to accept-- perhaps if it where Paleton Manning or the like then asking for the autograph would be looked at as a honorable act. This is your society over the last 500 years... Mr. Choice you have and made the right choice in asking in requesting Mr. Vick's autograph and dont ever let this bias society tell you otherwise-- who are they to judge.

Hopefully he'll want Torain's autograph at the end of their next game.

Do people think a 3 year old would ask for, or even want, a Michael Vick autograph?

Posted by: BigBubba1 | December 13, 2010 3:08 PM | Report abuse

Its sick he asked for Vick's Autograph, anyone else would be cool, but not that monster who should have been feed to his dogs. Why have none of the NFL players broken this man's legs, his ribs were a start, but a broken bone per game would seem more reasonable for this sick torturer.

Uh, speaking of "schooling", it's not "where we are at...", it's "where we are...". That's elementary school grammer.

There should not be a comma after the word "imagine". There should be a comma after the phrase "...a third grader wrote it," It should be "the most rudimentary grammatical skill, not "of grammatical skills".
I have a feeling you don't like African Americans, not people with poor writing skill.
