Tiger Woods is playing like Tiger Woods again...the good Tiger Woods

By Cindy Boren

The Chevron World Challenge isn't one of those tournaments that gives its champions a priceless green jacket that clashes with everything, a handy silver jug for claret or anything else particularly valuable. And it isn't going to nudge a guy off the 14 major golf championships he's been stuck on for a while.

Nonetheless, Tiger Woods is playing well and he's done something he's struggled to do throughout 2010 -- string together multiple holes and rounds on which he's played well. He shot a 66 in the tournament he hosts in Thousand Oaks, Calif., on Friday for a four-shot lead (at 13-under 131) over Graeme McDowell. A year ago, he had to drop out of his tournament because of injuries sustained in that Thanksgiving incident. He hasn't won a tournament in 13 months and has been reworking his game, as well as making rather well-publicized changes in his personal life.

"It feels good. I've been here before," Woods said afterward with a smile, "so it's not a strange feeling. [Saturday], it's the same game plan, just to out there and plod my way along and take care of the par-5s."

Clearly, he also seems to be on Twitter. Earlier this week, he was on a roll, answering questions before a press conference (it's his official account; if he's hired someone to answer for him, he should fire that person for the goatee tweet/shot):

@tigerwoods: Lakers, Dodgers, Raiders RT: @jmandel2 Favorite team to root for (besides Stanford)?

@tigerwoods: EVERYTHING. RT: @Michael_Necci What part of your game are looking forward to in 2011?

Yes, Tiger has added "tweets" that are as wooden as he is--all a calculated strategy to rehab his rightfully non grata image. Who would possibly be interested in anything he said or did after learning of the details of his grotesque fantasies? In a world where ethics and standards mattered, he would not be on a golf course. He would be living quietly somewhere, hoping no one would recognize him, and possibly pondering his mistakes. I wonder does he realize how many people want him to play so they can watch his losses? It's not "justice" but it evens the karma a bit.

"Tiger Woods is playing like ... the good Tiger Woods"

What this headline should have said is: Tiger Woods is playing like the bad Tiger Woods.

His love life must be returning to "normal."

Beckola... "In a world where ethics and standards mattered, he would not be on a golf course."

Thankfully we have adopted a culture that balances Freedom + Ethics, although precariously, and where without such balance our freedoms would be constantly threatened by the cries of those who may find offense by anything.

I see Tiger Woods as no different than the badly behaving Ivy Leaguers enabled by their friends and family. Perhaps the principle difference is Tiger was personally malfeasant while the Ivies are professionally malfeasant. Oh, but that's right: Tiger went to Stanford, Harvard of the West.

I thought the golf season was over. Or does it ever end? What exactly is the Chevron World Challenge? The winner probably gets a year of fill ups and oil changes free..

Wow, I would be really happy if fake moralists would make sure they are tending to their private affairs and not someone else's. You have got to move on people, He was not married to you, You were not getting a check from him. He is not obligated to please you in his life.

Take care of yourself Tiger, that is your firt obligation, make yourself happy.
