Greivis Vasquez calls out Terps after loss to Virginia Tech

By Cindy Boren

Greivis Vasquez tweeted tough love from NBAland about Maryland's 17-point loss to Virginia Tech on Thursday night:

Last night was bad for my terps. The guys need to step up and be more mature because it looks like we don't have a guy that can lead us. GW can always do so much but somebody(players) need to step up and get it done.

And yet another reason to be glad that Vasquez is gone......

Glad that Vasquez is gone? I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you have no association with the University of MD. I assure you no MD basketball fan is "glad he is gone." He was one of the top 6 or 7 greatest players ever to wear a Terps uniform and was hands down the best player in the ACC last season (not to mention the best point guard in the nation).

Last night was one of many examples of why Greivis was one of the most important players in Maryland history...The lack of leadership from the Point Guard position has killed this season. We miss you Greevy!

The Terps are one player away from being a team that could go deep in the NCAA tournament - as long as that player is a Greivis Vasquez or a Juan Dixon. As it stands, GV is right - there is no leadership on this team. Sure, they can come back from a 20 pt deficit and lose by 7 in any given game, but come back and win? Not these guys, it seems. It's Caner-Medley et al. all over again.

God bless, GV, for feeling the pain all Terps & Terps fans are feeling right now. But, that has to be the most "Capt. Obvious" statement I've heard about the game yet. What's the next tweet, GV? "Gotta improve outside shooting!" Ugh....I'm frustrated too but...Geezus!!! Does he seriously think one of the guys is going to see his tweet & step forward BECAUSE of it???
