Les Miles and Michigan speculation may steal spotlight from Patrick Peterson

By Cindy Boren

Patrick Peterson, LSU's All-America cornerback, might not be the focus of his own press conference announcing that he is going to enter the NFL Draft.

Not when LSU Coach Les Miles is around. His presence guarantees that there's not much Peterson can do besides thank everyone and then make tracks to get out of the way as reporters bombard Miles about the coaching vacancy at Michigan.

As of Saturday, LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva said he had not received a request from Michigan asking permission to speak to Miles, who is under contract through 2014. On Sunday, Alleva did not respond to requests asking if that had changed. Nor did Miles' agent respond.
