By Cindy Boren

Enrollment for the 36th Marine Corps Marathon, opens at noon (EST) today.

The "People's marathon," which is open to 30,000 runners, will take place Oct. 30. Air Force 2nd Lt. Jacob Bradosky was the men's winner last year with a time of 2 hours 23 minutes 30 seconds. Janet Cherobon was the women's winner in 2:42 minutes.38.

(If you're wondering why today is the entry day, it's the anniversary of the flag raisings during World War II's Battle of Iwo Jima.)
