Bush to Quickly Sign Bailout Bill
In a short speech at the White House, President Bush said he would quickly sign the $700 billion bailout bill passed by the House today.
He thanked leaders from both sides of the aisle in Congress. "By coming together on this legislation we have acted boldly," he said.
"There were moments this week when some thought that the federal government could not rise to the challenge. But thanks to the hard work of members of both parties, in both houses, and the spirit of cooperation between Capitol Hill and my administration, we completed this bill in a timely manner," Bush said.
Bush is scheduled to leave for his ranch in Texas this afternoon, but he could sign before he leaves or once he arrives in Crawford.
