Bush Nominates IG for Bailout
President Bush is nominating Neil M. Barofsky to be the Special Inspector General for the $700 billion government bailout/rescue.
Barofsky is an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York and chief of the mortgage fraud group.
He has a background in narcotics trafficking and securities fraud.
The Post's Amit Paley reported yesterday that oversight requirements on the bailout/rescue had not yet been met and that Barofsky was the leading candidate for the job.
