Construction Spending Not As Bad As Expected
It passes for good news these days: The Commerce Department said that construction spending fell by .3 percent September, less than the .8 percent expected.
Housing provided no relief -- construction dropped 1.3 percent; it has fallen every month but two over the past 30 months.
But that drop was slightly offset by non-residential construction spending, as malls and office buildings kept going up.
