Pelosi Calls (Again) For Lame-Duck Session
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) today called again for a lame-duck session of Congress to approve a second economic-stimulus plan aimed at consumers.
But a second package likely would not involve sending checks to taxpayers, like the one earlier this year.
Instead, Democrats favor package elements such as extending the amount of time unemployment payments can be collected and creating jobs with infrastructure programs.
Republicans are thinking about extending tax credits and suspending capital-gains taxes.
