N.C. Bankers Change Plans
The North Carolina Bankers Association had a convention planned for June at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, which describes itself as "a landmark resort of legendary proportions" between Los Angeles and San Diego.
But they've changed course and instead will meet for a day and a half at the Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill, N.C.
“Considering all that is swirling around us, our leadership feels it is more prudent to stay at home, stay conservative and keep things on a high, educational plane for Convention 2009,” President Thad Woodard said in a Dec. 18 e-mail newsletter to association members, according to Bloomberg News.
The group includes community banker as well as representatives from bigger banks, such as Charlotte-based Wachovia, which is being bought by Wells Fargo, and Bank of America, also in Charlotte.
At least the Friday Center is next to a golf course.
