Obama to Add Daily Economic Briefing

President Obama will add a daily morning economic briefing to go along with the president's traditional morning national security briefing, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said moments ago.

The idea is to keep the president as up-to-date and in-the-loop as possible as Treasury, the Fed and his economic advisers work to pull the nation out of recession.

This morning's briefing was delivered by economic adviser Lawrence Summers, who spoke to Obama, Vice President Biden, chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and other top advisers, Gibbs said.

The president traditionally receives a briefing each morning, sometimes called the "threat matrix," in which he is informed about national security issues and any threats to the United States.
