Report: Authorities Close to Charging 10 Others in Madoff Scheme
Federal authorities are pursuing charges against 10 people linked to Bernie Madoff's multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme, the Associated Press is reporting.
So far, only Madoff and his bogus auditor have been criminally charged. The source who spoke to the AP would not say who is in the cross hairs of authorities, or whether family members are among them.
The feds have seized all but $2.5 million of the wealth claimed by Madoff's wife, Ruth. His two sons, Mark and Andrew, have had their assets frozen.
Last week, the SEC charged a brokerage firm called Cohmad Securities and four people with securities fraud, saying they were "feeder funds" that channeled billions into Madoff's scheme.
