I actually watched the interview with Kit Bond too. He confused Medicare with Medicaid at the end of the interview, claiming that Medicare pays 20% below hospital costs and that many providers don't accept it as a result. I don't really know why this level of ignorance is accepted by Americans, other than that the vast majorities of Americans are themselves ignorant.
