No. No no no no no. I would like to go on the record as being in full, unqualified, shouty support of fancy cupcakes. The more the better.

As a frosting person, who sees cake mainly as a vehicle for as much frosting as possible, I feel I am finally, after years of deprivation, getting the sugary goodness I deserve.

In conclusion, more cupcakes. Thank you.

(BTW, the I've found the best fancy cupcakes around, with wonderful, fluffy frosting and a moist, delicious cake are at Fancy Cakes by Leslie in Bethesda. There's also a small cupcake place in Old Town Alexandria that makes great cupcakes, if it's still there.)

One of the glories of middle age is that you're blissfully unaware of most of the bizarre fads that come and go. I eat really well and I've never even eaten one of these fancy cupcakes.
