Sometimes I worry about congressional Republicans
They just don't know what they want.

Democrats might as well do as they please, and if some reporter questions a lack of bipartisanship, simply quote Boehner in each case and throw up their hands. Hopefully the people pick up on it, but even if they don't it's not like Democrats are getting any credit for acting bipartisan as it is. As Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes) said, "The worst part is that I don't even have the fun of doing the things I'm getting blamed for."
I'm not a Democrat but I'm not a Republican either, and I'd love to see the Republican strategy of refusing to play ball blow up in their faces (looking at people's attitudes towards Republicans, perhaps in some ways it already has). Even if the outcome doesn't mesh with my personal political tastes, I insist our representatives in Congress act like adults and find solutions to our problems. If Democrats are continually thwarted, not only is nothing accomplished, but its hard to see how Democrats will give the Republicans anything when they are back in power.

Wow, Ezra! You've really lost it.
The Republicans demanded the Democrats to announce their ideas for HCR, but to set aside the existing legislation that was written in secret with special interest groups, hidden from Republicans and many Democrats, passed only by threats and payoffs and disliked by most Americans.
Boehner is responding to the threats of Democrats that they'll come to the summit with a proposal that mirrors the existing bill.

"...written in secret with special interest groups, hidden from Republicans and many Democrats, passed only by threats and payoffs [yada yada yada]..."
really?
..in other words, the result of a long Presidential campaign, the, what?, five different congressional committees with open hearings, the seemingly endless "gang of six" bi-partisan process in the Senate Finance Committee, countless debates, amendments, compromises leading to further amendments, and finally (after final votes involving every legislator in both parties) PASSAGE of legislation in BOTH chambers of Congress (including a "super" majority of 60 VOTES in the Senate), PLUS now (to assuage your endless whining one last time) an open televised bi-partisan summit...
this is...
"written in secret with special interest groups, hidden from Republicans and many Democrats, passed only by threats and payoffs [yada yada yada]"
really?
If that's true, the Republicans are utterly incompetent for lettting this legislation magically slip past them completely untouched and in secret, especially since it has been in all the newspapers.
Honestly. do you really think any informed person buys this tired load any more?
Write it on your tea bag signs with your birther nonsense, but don't bother pushing that stuff here. People who read Ezra Klein are familiar with the legislative history of HCR.

Au contraire, they know exactly what they want: to kick the Democratic party into the Whig dustbin of history.
