Reconciliation

Today I looked at the partisan composition of recent reconciliation votes, ran through Obama's closing arguments on health-care reform, and found myself confused about the Consumer Financial Protection Agency.

Here's what I didn't get to:

1) Barbara Mikulski is done with the filibuster.

2) One of the leading conservative education scholars becomes an apostate.

3) Is China really so scary?

4) Are we at risk of a double-dip recession?

Recipe of the day: Nutella-swirl pound cake.

The only reason China scares anyone is that they continue to dishonor their people by refusing them the right to dissent and the right to have a free press, free from government interference.

Their leaders are cowards for refusing to bestow dignity and freedom on their people. To their credit, they seemed to be motivated by looking after their well-being. But their people aren't pets and they deserve to be honored by their government---not repressed!

"Today I"... chickened out on responding to Rep. Paul Ryan

Ezra won't respond to Rep. Paul Ryan without using half-truths and pulling smoke & mirror tricks.

Rep. Paul Ryan is completely right about Obama & Pelosi's Budget Busting Bill!!!

Warren Buffet was right----he needs to start over and focus on costs! Costs costs costs!

Did you see how Ezra distorted what Warren Buffet said by taking one sentence out of context and ignoring the rest of the interview----especially where he said he would prefer to start over and focus on cost, acknowledging that the public is not supportive of this bill because no one believes it will reduce the cost of healthcare?

China is a huge seller of organs on the legitimate and black market, which they "harvest" from executed "felons." un huh. Nice way to create a useful by product from their criminal "justice" system. They have never paid a price for Tienanmen and other atrocities. But fine, Klein thinks they are admirable.

Regarding the mandate, I don't like it.

Social Security forces you to first invest in it (i.e. pay taxes) before you can partake of it.

I read an article today suggesting that we ditch the mandate in favor of a five-year waiting period (before a person can buy insurance) for those who don't opt-in. While I am not sure this is the proper way to ditch the mandate, I think it's on the right track.

Note that while I don't like the mandate, I'd vote for the bill as-is if it's the only way forward.

If Dems were smart, they'd find a way to ditch the mandate while still making the system tenable.

This bill COSTS $2.3 Trillion Dollars....to make that $2.3 Trillion number disappear Obama and Pelosi have duplicity added into the bill provisions to steal $500 Billion that congress have already appropriated toward Medicare, stock up in increased taxes for 10 years, and moving a payoff to AMA for underpayments to Medicare doctors into a separate bill.

Obama and Pelosi should be ashamed of themselves! This is a big canard! This bill WILL DESTROY OUR COUNTRY!

Ezra - Please ask Obama and Pelosi to avoid going nuclear!!! This bill is not worth such divisive politics!!!

Listen to Warren Buffet----start over and focus on a program that is centered around reducing the spiraling cost of healthcare that arises out of decoupling our citizens from the true cost of healthcare services they recieve!!

Is that really too much to ask!

Democrats criticized Bush for being focused on removing Saddam from Day 1 of his administration! Well if that is true, how is Obama correct for insisting on federalizing healthcare and getting a de facto single-payer system, regardless of how it will destory our country with perpetual structural deficits....at least the cost of the Iraq war will disappear over time----this cost WILL KILL US AS IT GROWS AND GROWS AND GROWS!

If Obama & Pelosi go nuclear to ram this horrible bill through, the Tea Party will surge and Andy Stern won't be able to send his thugs to beat up people up and to try an intimidate blacks from joining the movement, like they did in Missouri with Kenneth Gladney.

FastEddie,

Rich white Republicans are the ones who ALREADY DESTROYED the country. They brought in the illegal aliens for cheap labor, they created over 80% of the entire national debt, they created Bin Laden, Saddam, Al Qaeda, and the culture of greed that has raped our 401ks .

4/5 of the current deficit is due to GWBush's policies. The other 1/5 was needed to fight the recession.

At most, Obama is guilty of not effectively fighting the recession. But blame for the recession, the debt and many other things goes to Reagan, Bush, Clinton (for compromising with the GOP congress) and Bush.

People like you had 30 years to get things done, and now look at what you have wrought. Time for you to shut up and disappear and let others try to fix what you neocons destroyed.
