the pelican photographs have become symbolic of this spill.
they dont have hands to rub their eyes.
all they can do is stand there and suffer. their hearts must be racing, as they grow hotter or colder, and cant help themselves.
whenever i think of the gulf now, i think of the haunting photographs of the pelicans.

Once you clean the oil off the pelican, how long do you have to wait before cooking and eating it?
