Finding Cheap(er) Gasoline in Fairfax County

Fairfax area drivers are swarming to gasoline stations, fearing shortages and price increases. The talk in many neighborhoods is about which stations have the cheapest prices.

One way to check is through the website www.washingtondcgasprices.com/. Be forewarned, however, that many prices listed on the site are outdated because price increases are occuring almost hourly. However, you can get a general idea of which stations offer the lowest prices.
If you suspect that a station is gouging its prices, report them to http://gaswatch.energy.gov/.
AAA's www.fuelcostcalculator.com offers other links to current prices. It also has a calculator that you can use to estimate how much you will pay in gasoline for a planned trip.
The federal government's www.fueleconomy.gov includes gas-saving tips, fuel-economy ratings of cars and trucks and information on gas-electric hybrid cars.
For information about Virginia's retail gas supply and how it is priced, go to www.vpcga.com.
