Four Arrested in Katrina Scam

Four people were arrested Sunday for conducting a scam claiming to collect money for victims of hurricane Katrina, the county police said today. Here is the rest of the police news release:

On Sunday, September 4 around 4:00 p.m., police responded to the 12100 block of Sunset Hills Road in the Reston area for reports of people asking for cash donations on behalf of charities helping victims of hurricane Katrina. Investigation revealed that the four suspects did not represent any charity and had allegedly misrepresented themselves. Police charged all four individuals for solicitation violations and released them on a summons to appear in court.

Those charged were:
· Joseph J. Murphy Jr., 23, of 660 Foxcroft Road in Warrenton
· Isaac M. Beavers, 22, of 9266 Byrd Drive in Manassas
· Nicholas P. Flint, 19, of 8386 Tillet Loop in Manassas
· Marie S. Golden, 22, of 9266 Byrd Drive in Manassas
