Volunteer Litter Clean-Ups Set For Cub Run and Lake Accotink

The Pleasant Valley neighborhood connection will conduct a waterway cleanup Saturday 10/1 at Cub Run Stream and Oct. 22 at Lake Accotink Park.
Volunteers will bag up beverage containers, discarded cigarette filters, deflated balloons, fishing line and other pieces of litter.

Litter can drown, smother, poison, entangle and severely injure fish, birds and marine life.
The majority of debris found in oceans and beaches originates from inland sources such as storm drains and roadside litter.
The Virginia cleanups are part of the annual International Coastal Cleanup organized by the Ocean Conservancy. In the state, the cleanups are organized by Clean Virginia Waterways.
