Comments Sought on School Textbooks
County school officials are asking for public comments on proposed new English literature textbooks for students in grades 9-12 and proposed new science textbooks for students in grades 6-8.
The books can be viewed at eight library branches: Centreville Regional Library, 14200 St. Germaine Dr.; Chantilly Regional Library, 4000 Stringfellow Rd.; Fairfax City Regional Library, 3915 Chain Bridge Rd., Fairfax; George Mason Regional Library, 7001 Little River Tnpk., Annandale; Pohick Regional Library, 6450 Sydenstricker Rd., Burke; Reston Regional Library, 11925 Bowman Towne Dr.; Sherwood Regional Library, 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane in the Alexandria area; and Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, 7584 Leesburg Pike (Route 7) in the Falls Church area.
Residents will be asked to complete a comment sheet that will be forwarded to the school board before it votes on the books Dec. 15. If approved, the books will be used during the 2006-2007 school year.
