Public Transportation Barriers Forums Scheduled

The county government is planning to hold three forums in November to solicit comments about barriers on public transportation that prevent people with disabilities from riding buses, taxis and trains.
Publicly -funded transportation systems in the county include the Fairfax Connector, Metro, MetroAccess, FASTRAN, Medicaid-subsidized funded transportation, taxi services and Seniors-On-the-Go.
The forums will be:
7-9 p.m. Nov. 1 at the South County Government Center, 8350 Richmond Hwy. (Route 1) in the Alexandria area.
Noon-2 p.m. Nov. 3, Department of Systems Management for Human Services Building, Region 3, 11484 Washington Plaza W., Reston.
10 a.m.-noon Nov. 5, Virginia Tech's Northern Virginia Center, 7054 Haycock Rd., city of in Falls Church.

The forums are sponsored by the county Department of Transportation, the Disability Services Board, the Area Agency on Aging, the county Department of Systems Management, the Department of Family Services, and the Department of Community and Recreation Services, and the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board.
