County To Hold Meetings On Funding For Synthetic-Turf Fields
The Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services has launched a matching funds program to encourage county sports organizations to develop synthetic-turf athletic fields in the county.
The department will provide up to $483,000 toward the cost of installing synthetic turf on a rectangular field.
All sports organizations that currently receive field-use permits from the county are eligible to apply.
Funding for the program comes from revenue from the department's athletic facility application fee.
Applications are due by Dec. 15, and a notice of intent to apply must be submitted by Nov. 15.
All applicants must attend a mandatory informational meeting. Meetings will be held at:
7 p.m. Wednesday, South County Center, Room 219, 8350 Richmond Hwy. (Route 1).
2 p.m. next Thursday, Pennino Building.
