Meeting Thursday on Day Laborers

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments will host its first meeting for area elected officials on the issue of day laborers from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 17.

Council of governments officials said the meeting is the first time the regional organization has discussed day laborers with leaders from Maryland, Virginia and the District.

The meeting will be in the council of governments' boardroom, 777 N. Capitol St., suite 300, in Northeast Washington. For more information, visit

Confirmed participants include: Elected officials from Arlington (Walter Tejada), Fairfax (Cathy Hudgins), Loudoun (Bruce Tulloch), Montgomery (Tom Perez), Prince George's (Will Campos), Prince William (Hilda Barg), Greenbelt (Judith Davis), Herndon (Michael O'Reilley), Rockville (Robert Dorsey), and Takoma Park(Kathy Porter and Terry Seamens), local government Human Services officials, former day laborers, representatives of day labor centers, local small business owners and Casa de Maryland organization.
