Casting Call Saturday

From the county recreation department: Casting Director Jeanne Boisineau is seeking three young boys for the major motion picture THE KITE RUNNER. The film, produced by Dreamworks SKG (War of the Worlds, Madagascar, Shrek), and directed by Marc Forester (Finding Neverland, Monsters Ball), is based upon the novel by Kahled Hosseini. Shooting is scheduled to begin in April 2006.

An open call for boys interested in auditioning for the film will be held on December 17, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., at the David R. Pinn Community Center, 10255 Zion Drive, Farifax Virginia 22030. Parents or guardians must accompany the children. Ms. Boisineau will meet briefly with each child. A translator of Dari and Farsi will also be present.

Ms Boisineau is seeking young boys between the ages of 9-11 for the starring roles of Amir, an Afghan Pashtun boy, and Hassan, an Hazara boy. She is also looking for a young man, ages 13-15, for the role of Assef. She is particularly searching for children who speak Farsi or Dari, but it is not a requirement. No previous acting experience is necessary.

An epic tale that spans the final days of Afghanistan's monarchy up to the brutal reign of the Taliban, THE KITE RUNNER is the unforgettable story of friendship between two boys: Amir, the son of a prominent and charismatic businessman, and Hassan, the family servant's only child.

All interested parents and children are encouraged to attend the open call. For additional information, please call 703-250-9181, TTY 711.
