Three Cited for Illegal Boarding Houses

A Fairfax County General District Court judge has cited three property owners for operating illegal boarding houses in their single-family homes, a violation of Herndon's zoning ordinance, town officials said.

Neighbors reported crowding at 455 Virginia Ave., 1001 Jeff Ryan Dr. and 322 Missouri Ave. A town inspector found 10 or more people living in each home, several of them unrelated. Each owner, Marcia Garcia of Reston, Eduardo Murcia of Herndon and Jose D. Aguirre Portillo of Herndon, was sentenced to a year of unsupervised probation and was fined at least $100.
