Falls Church Names Communications Director

The following press release was released today by the City of Falls Church:

City Manager Appoints Communications Director

FALLS CHURCH, VA. -  City Manager Dan McKeever has announced the promotion and appointment of Nicole Gobbo as Communications Director for the City of Falls Church. As Communications Director, Gobbo will oversee the City's Office of Communications.  Her responsibilities will include serving as media spokesperson for the City and managing City publications, publicity, and Web content among other outreach initiatives.  Gobbo joined the City in May 2004 as Communications Specialist and served as Acting Director of Communications September through December 2005.

Gobbo possesses a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and English from Wellesley College.  She brings to the position a diverse background of communications and legislative experience, having worked for the National Council of State Housing Agencies and the late U.S. Congresswoman Patsy T. Mink.  Gobbo has progressive experience in the communications field and a strong commitment to the Falls Church City community.

"Nicole has done an excellent job of communicating City initiatives and has a strong track record of commitment to public service.  I am confident she will continue to expand upon the superior quality of the City's communications products and develop new and effective tools to educate the City's public," stated Falls Church City Manager Dan McKeever.

Gobbo replaces Dionne C. Williams who resigned as Communications Director in September 2005.

Gobbo's new role as Communications Director became effective Jan. 1, 2006.
