Local Governments Face An Aging Workforce

Fairfax County is among the local jurisdictions that are facing a graying workforce: 610 county employees were recognized on Friday for at least 20 years on the job, with some having worked for the county government for 40 years. The number of workers who will likely retire beginning in 2011, and the smaller pool of younger workers waiting to replace them, have some officials concerned.
