Funeral Canceled After Mistaken Identification

The funeral for William M. Heislup of Fairfax, who drowned with his friend John Walker in the Potomoac June 16, was canceled after his family found that the Baltimore medical examiner's office had made a mistake that led to the cremation of Heislup. A story in Saturday's Metro section reports that before Heislup's funeral, his brother and sister went to the funeral home and opened the casket, only to find the body of his friend. Heislup's had been cremated. The funeral was cancelled.
