County Wants BRAC to Disperse Belvoir Traffic

What would the county do with as many as 22,000 more people at Ft. Belvoir by 2011? Today's Metro section, addresses the plans and a meeting--part of the federal base realignment and closure (BRAC). County types think this could aggravate the overloaded traffic congestion in southern Fairfax County. Consultants for the relocation suggest the plan could add 17,000 cars to roads around and into the base. County leaders want the Army to consider dispersing personnel by scattering buildings to other areas. The Army decision is due next month.
