Man Sought in Reston Attacks

From today's Metro section:

Police believe a man wielding a knife may have accosted five women in the Reston area in recent days, including one who was sexually assaulted near Lake Anne Elementary School last week.

The first two incidents occurred Sept. 14 about 90 minutes apart, Fairfax County police said. Two women walking separately on North Shore Drive near Moorings Drive reported being grabbed by a man with a knife but escaping. On Sept. 19, a woman walking on North Shore Drive near Fairway Drive was pulled into a wooded area and sexually assaulted by a man with a knife.

On Tuesday, a woman sitting outside in the Northgate Square apartment complex on North Shore Drive was approached by a man with a knife, but she fled. On Wednesday, a woman walking near the northern intersection of North Shore Drive and Wiehle Avenue told police she was grabbed by a man with a knife and dragged into woods, but she screamed and he fled. The suspect in all five cases is described as a dark-skinned man in his twenties who usually has a sweat shirt or jacket pulled over his head.
