Fort Belvoir Needs $458 Million For Roads

An estimated $458 million will be needed for road fixes before Fort Belvoir can move ahead with the BRAC plan to relocate 22,000 federal employees to the Fort, most of which would work at the nearby engineer proving ground rather than at the main base.

Local officials criticized the plan saying that the federal government doesn't seem prepared to offer that much money, which would be essential to avoid worsening traffic in the southern part of the county. The news was in Saturday's Metro section.
