Today's Fairfax Politics column tells of a former Herndon Town Council Member who is defying the a new town law and refusing to prove her legal immigration status to get a license for her small private business. Carol Bruce says her defiance is a protest and sets up a potential legal challenge to the law.

Also, Democrat Jeff Kaye is juggling his chief of staff duties for retiring Lee District Supervisor T. Dana Kauffman (D) even as he campaigns for Kauffman's seat.

Finally, there is James E. Hyland, the new chair of the Fairfax County GOP.
