UPDATE 5/23: School Board Approves Calendar Change and Budget

At last night's school board meeting, the board approved the date change for the last day of school from June 17 to June 13, and, according to this article, the budget for next year.

The news out of last night's School Board meeting indicates that the elimination of some programs and services which the board was mulling may not happen.

The Fairfax County School Board will vote tonight on what this article from today's Fairfax Extra calls "the most austere budget in a decade." Parents have widely decried a variety of cuts in programs and services which the budget calls for.
